Michael received his massage training in 1970 at the Esalen Institute in Big Sur. Trained directly by Ida Rolf, Michael received his basic and advanced training in Rolfing Structural Integration at The Rolf Institute in Boulder, Colorado. Known for revolutionizing the way we see and work with the body, Rolfing advanced the bodywork field by allowing anatomical changes to be seen in the body's vertical axis, enabling treatment for chronic pain syndrome and chronic postural problems. Rolfing is a deep, though gentle, bodywork technique that embraces a philosophy of bodily intelligence. Rolfing serves as a useful synthesis with psychotherapy for stimulating emotional release. Michael is committed to the field of bodywork and has inspired many bodywork therapists through his skill and innate understanding of the human body and spirit. He has served a four-year term as Director of The Rolf Institute. Michael brings over 25 years of experience to his work.

The goal of Rolfing is to allow the body to move naturally into good posture by eliminating the cause of skeletal misalignment, and restoring the body's connective tissue to a healthy state. The results are progressive. Some of these results can be:

· Enhanced performance due to relief from postural-related pain. Improvement in mechanical efficiency, coordination, and body awareness, with a greater flexibility and range of motion.

· Increased physiological efficiency due to improvements in breathing, cirulation, digestion, elimination, and sleep patterns.

· Improved alignment and appearance through prevention of pain and stiffness, stooping and compression associated with aging.

· Improved psychological efficiency - you feel good, you learn to manage or avoid stress, and you can experience growth through self-insight.

"Bodies need to lengthen and be balanced, and a balanced body will give rise to a better human being."
- Ida Rolf
